“ How to Invest in Start-ups and Early-Stage Companies: A Business Angels Perspective ”

Young companies distinguish themselves by higher risks, but higher potential of growth and returns on investment. 
Often, they are difficult to value because they have little or no revenues, few hard assets and their intrinsic value is fundamentally linked to human capital and technological content. 
However, despite those issues, there are many companies that managed to successfully grow beyond that startup phase because they obtained adequate resources from Business Angels. What is the approach of those investors?
Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC), in association with ATUGE Club Entrepreneur will organize a conference during which two successful and seasoned Business Angels from the New-York based Golden Seeds will discuss about how Business Angels have been playing an important role in the development of the startup to early-stage entrepreneurial ecosystem in the US and worldwide.

SPEAKERS
MS. DAPHNE KIS, MANAGING DIRECTOR,  GOLDEN SEEDS : Daphne Kis currently serves as the Project Director of the Markle Foundation’s initiative on Economic Security.  She has spent many years as a strategic business consultant to young, growing companies and until recently was CEO of SheWrites.com, an early stage startup that is building a publishing 2.0 platform where writers maximize engagement and profit from audiences.  She is a Managing Director at Golden Seeds, an angel network that invests in women-led companies and recently co-led a $1.5 million financing round for, and now serves on the board of, Style for Hire, a national peer-to-peer network and technology platform for fashion stylists

MR. DAVID BEATTY, MANAGING DIRECTOR, GOLDEN SEEDS : a plus de 25 ans d’expérience dans le management entrepreneurial et le business développement : la création et la gestion d’entreprises, investissement en capital risque, création et restitution de programmes éducationnels sur le capital risque et fourniture de conseils juridiques pour des startup et des sociétés déjà établies. Mr Fairfield a été clé dans le développement du programme universitaire entrepreneurial reconnu à l’échelle nationale aux Etats Unis avant d’aider dans le développement de groupes de capital risque et de programmes de développement de l’innovation aux Etats Unis de Manière globale
